Editorial Policy

The facts in this niche change constantly — device inventories rotate, fees change, programs end. Our entire editorial standard is built around that reality.

The verification standard

Every fact is dated. Provider plans, device offers, co-pays, fees, and coverage each carry the date we last verified them — visible on the page, not hidden in a footer. Every fact is sourced. Figures link to the official page we verified them against (carrier sites, FCC, USAC, HHS poverty guidelines, state agencies). Stale facts are flagged. When a fact passes 45 days without re-verification, the page shows a re-verification notice and is removed from search-engine indexing until it's checked again — we'd rather rank fewer pages than publish stale ones.

What we won't publish

Claims we can't verify against a primary source. "Free" offers that hide co-pays or fees. Recycled content that dodges the questions that decide real outcomes (ZIP-dependent availability, wait times, rejection reasons). And anything that would help scammers look legitimate.

Revenue and independence

Gov-Grants.org is reader-supported: we may earn referral fees when readers enroll with some carriers through our links, and we may show advertising. Two hard rules protect the content: no payment ever influences a ranking, review, or fact, and commercial relationships have no visibility into editorial verification. Carriers cannot pay to be listed, ranked higher, or reviewed favorably.

Found an error or an outdated fact? Tell us — corrections are published by updating the page and its verification date. Reader corrections are how a site like this stays honest.

Official sources we verify against

FCC (fcc.gov/lifeline-consumers), USAC (usac.org, lifelinesupport.org), HHS poverty guidelines (aspe.hhs.gov), USDA FNS for SNAP, state public utility commissions, and the carriers' own published terms. Final eligibility decisions always belong to the National Verifier and program administrators — never to us.
