Since the ACP ended in 2024, "free internet" searches mostly land on outdated pages. The honest 2026 picture: free home internet is rare, but $10–30/month is very achievable, and free mobile internet still exists through Lifeline phone plans. Here's the full stack, dated.

Option 1: Lifeline broadband

The Lifeline benefit can apply to internet service instead of (or combined with) phone service with participating providers. Most people get more value using it on a free phone plan with hotspot data — see option 3.

Option 2: Carrier low-income plans

The big ISPs run their own verified low-income plans: Xfinity Internet Essentials, Spectrum Internet Assist, Verizon Forward, AT&T Access and similar — typically $10–30/month with eligibility via SNAP/Medicaid/Lifeline enrollment. Option 3: Free phone plan + hotspot

Several Lifeline carriers include hotspot data at $0 — TruConnect is the best-known. For light use (job applications, school forms, email) this is genuinely free internet.
