StandUp Wireless Application: How to Apply Online (2026)
Last verified: · by Arif
The StandUp Wireless application is free and takes about ten minutes. Apply only at the official StandUp Wireless application, never through a third party and never for a fee.
Who qualifies for StandUp Wireless
One benefit per household, through a program someone in the household already receives (SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension, or a Tribal program) or through income at or below 135% of the federal poverty guideline. The program route clears faster because it verifies against agency records automatically. StandUp Wireless serves 32 states; the ZIP check in the application is the final word for your address.
How to apply
- Go to the official StandUp Wireless application and enter your ZIP to confirm coverage. StandUp serves 30+ states and Puerto Rico: the ZIP check is the first gate.
- Prove eligibility: SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing, Veterans Pension, or income at/below 135% FPL. A photo of your award letter or EBT card with matching ID is usually enough.
- The National Verifier runs during the application: instant approval if your details match government records.
- Choose service: free SIM for your own phone (BYOD) or a device offer where available.
- Track your application on the check-status page; service activates when the SIM/device arrives.
Why StandUp Wireless applications get rejected, and the fix
- Application says 'ZIP not served'
Cause: StandUp is an ETC in 30+ states but not all, and coverage is ZIP-level, not state-level
Fix: Check your state guide for the other Lifeline carriers serving your ZIP; SafeLink covers all 50 states.
- National Verifier asks for documents
Cause: Your name/DOB/SSN4 didn't auto-match the benefit database
Fix: Upload the award letter exactly as issued: a SNAP letter older than 12 months is the most common rejection.
