Cause: Proof of eligibility has to go by fax, email or post to a PO box in Ohio, and there is no online upload
Fix: Email is the easiest of the three. If you have to fax, most public libraries will do it, and some community organisations will too. Keep a photo of everything you send with the date.
- You see an offer for a free tablet or home internet that never materialises
Cause: Their corporate site still advertises the Affordable Connectivity Program, which ended in June 2024
Fix: Ignore any ACP offer anywhere on the web; the program no longer exists. Lifeline is the live program and it is what their enrollment page actually signs you up for.

They do not say. Their current enrollment page promises unlimited talk and text with high-speed data and puts no number on any of it, and the per-state plan pages that used to carry those figures now return 404. What states does True Wireless serve?
Five: Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Maryland and Rhode Island. Their own site names the same five and federal Lifeline data confirms them, which is a cleaner match than most carriers manage. Oklahoma is the home state; they describe themselves as a leading Lifeline provider there.

Is True Wireless legit?
It is a genuine Lifeline carrier: an Oklahoma company operating since 2008 and listed in federal Lifeline data for all five states it advertises. Two things belong in the open. In 2013 the FCC proposed a $5.5 million penalty against the company over duplicate Lifeline claims, and their site today foregrounds anti-fraud language. And their web presence is scattered across five domains with three different support numbers and a live page still advertising a program that ended in 2024. None of that makes them fraudulent. It does mean confirming anything important by phone.
