The Assist Wireless application is free and takes about ten minutes. Apply only at the official Assist Wireless application, never through a third party and never for a fee.

Who qualifies for Assist Wireless

One benefit per household, through a program someone in the household already receives (SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension, or a Tribal program) or through income at or below 135% of the federal poverty guideline. The program route clears faster because it verifies against agency records automatically. Assist Wireless serves 4 states; the ZIP check in the application is the final word for your address.

How to apply

  1. Confirm you are in Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri or Oklahoma. These four are the whole service area, confirmed both by their own state plan pages and by USAC's carrier data. Their marketing says "Oklahoma and multiple other states," which is vaguer than the reality.
  2. Decide whether you qualify on Tribal lands, because it changes the offer substantially. Tribal enrollment in Oklahoma gets unlimited talk and text instead of 300 and 300, and the free-phone promotion is Tribal-only. Qualifying Tribal programs include BIA General Assistance, FDPIR, Tribally-Administered TANF and Tribal Head Start.
  3. Prove eligibility through SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension, or income at or below 135% of the poverty guideline. Their published 2026 figure is $21,546 for a one-person household, rising $7,668 per additional person.
  4. Apply online at their enrollment site, or walk into a store if you are in Oklahoma. Roughly 30 Oklahoma locations, including seven in Tulsa and four in Oklahoma City. Walking in is the one real advantage they have over mail-order carriers, because a person checks your documents on the spot.
  5. Wait one to three business days for the eligibility decision, then one to two days for shipping if you enrolled online. The enrollment support line is a different number from customer service: (888) 295-7937, open Mon-Fri 9am to 7pm Central.

Why Assist Wireless applications get rejected, and the fix

  • Application denied over a document, not over eligibility

    Cause: Assist Wireless names the usual culprits directly: an expired ID, or a blurry photo of the proof you uploaded

    Fix: Retake the photo in daylight on a flat surface with all four corners visible, and check the ID expiry date before you upload. If you know you qualify, call the enrollment line at (888) 295-7937 rather than restarting the application, because a second application at the same address can read as a duplicate.

What states does Assist Wireless serve?

Four: Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri and Oklahoma. Their own state plan pages list exactly these, and USAC's federal carrier data agrees. Their About page also names Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Pennsylvania and Texas as planned expansion, which is not the same as being live there. If you are outside those four, check your state guide for carriers that actually serve you.
