The TruConnect application is free and takes about ten minutes. Apply only at the official TruConnect application, never through a third party and never for a fee.
Who qualifies for TruConnect
One benefit per household, through a program someone in the household already receives (SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension, or a Tribal program) or through income at or below 135% of the federal poverty guideline. The program route clears faster because it verifies against agency records automatically. TruConnect serves 23 states; the ZIP check in the application is the final word for your address.
How to apply
- Apply online at truconnect.com. Outside California the National Verifier runs inline.
- California applicants: the application routes through the California LifeLine administrator, and a PIN letter arrives by mail to finish enrollment. The mailed PIN step is normal in CA, not a scam.
- Choose the free smartphone or BYOD SIM; hotspot data is included in most plans.
