Unity Wireless in 2026: What We Could and Could Not Verify

Unity Wireless advertises a free Lifeline plan with 10GB of data on T-Mobile. We went looking for the application behind that offer on 2026-09-18 and could not find one. This page exists because we would rather tell you what we found than publish a confident how-to-apply guide for a door we could not open.

Checked against the carrier's own pages and USAC's public Lifeline company dataset on 2026-09-18. Sites change. If you find a working Lifeline application there, that is good news and we would like to hear about it.

The part that is real

The company does name its Lifeline carrier in the site footer: American Broadband and Telecommunications. That is a genuine eligible telecommunications carrier and it does appear in federal Lifeline data, trading under the brand American Assistance across 26 states and Puerto Rico. So this is not a fictional operation. The gap is between the carrier behind it and the Unity Wireless brand a customer is being asked to sign up with.

Why so many of these brands are in limbo

The ACP ended in 2024 and took a large slice of these companies' revenue with it. Some merged, some narrowed to a handful of states, some quietly stopped enrolling and left the marketing running. A site that looks current can be a landing page kept alive for leads rather than a service you can join. That is why we check for a working application and a USAC listing rather than reading the homepage.

What to do instead

  1. Start at the National Verifier, not at a carrier. Get approved first at lifelinesupport.org and you arrive at any carrier holding an application ID, which removes the most common reason applications stall.
  2. Check who is authorized where you live. Our state guides list the carriers serving each state, and USAC publishes the same data publicly if you want to check us.
  3. Pick on coverage first. A bigger data allowance is worth nothing on one bar of signal. Compare the programs side by side once you know which networks work at your address.
  4. Never pay to apply. Lifeline enrollment is free at every authorized carrier. If an Apply button leads to a checkout asking for a card, you have left the free program, whatever the page above it said.

Common questions

Is Unity Wireless still in business?

The website is live and was updated in 2026, and the company still sells paid prepaid plans. What we could not verify is an open Lifeline enrollment. On the date we checked, the Apply Now button on the Lifeline page collected only an email address, and the other Apply links led to a paid prepaid checkout.

Can I get a free government phone from Unity Wireless?

We could not find a way to complete a Lifeline application on their site. There is no National Verifier handoff, no document upload and no status page. Their old ACP portal at apply.gounitywireless.com no longer connects, and their own How To Qualify link returns a 404. Apply with a carrier you can actually reach instead.

Is Unity Wireless a scam?

We are not saying that and we have no evidence of it. The site names a real Lifeline carrier, American Broadband and Telecommunications, as the company behind the service, and that carrier is genuinely active in USAC's data. What we are saying is narrower and checkable: the Unity Wireless brand does not appear in USAC's Lifeline company list, and the free plan it advertises has no working application behind it.

What happened to Unity Wireless ACP?

The Affordable Connectivity Program ended on 1 June 2024 and Unity's own terms of service say so. Several of their pages still market ACP enrollment without any notice that the program is over, including a schools page. Do not start an ACP application anywhere; the program no longer exists.

I am an existing Unity Wireless customer. What should I do?

Your Lifeline benefit is federal and belongs to your household, not to a brand. If your service is working, nothing forces you to move. If it is not, or if you cannot get support, apply with another authorized carrier serving your state and port your number during enrollment. Do not cancel the old service first.
