Checked 2026-09-18. The brand relationship is published on AirTalk's own about page, which names NewPhone Wireless alongside CinTex Wireless and AirVoice Wireless as part of the HTH Communications family.

The one page you should not use

There is a stray NewPhone page still online at apply.newphone.com. It advertises the Emergency Broadband Benefit, which was replaced by ACP in 2022 and ended entirely, and it still carries a Thanksgiving closure notice from 2021. It has no working links and no phone number. An abandoned application form under a real company's name is exactly the kind of thing scammers clone, so treat it as dead and go to the carrier's live site instead.

Four brands, one company

NewPhone is the third of these we have had to write about. CinTex Wireless was migrated into AirTalk, AirVoice turned out to be the paid brand of the same company, and now NewPhone has gone the same way. All four sit under HTH Communications in Houston, with AirVoice Wireless, LLC holding the carrier licence. If you have ever been a customer of any of them, AirTalk is where your account ended up.

What to do now

  1. Existing customer with working service? Nothing is required of you. Use AirTalk's login and support line from now on.
  2. Service stopped and you cannot reach anyone? Call AirTalk rather than waiting. The most common reason Lifeline service ends quietly is a missed annual recertification, and that is fixable if you catch it.
  3. Trying to sign up? Apply through AirTalk directly. Our AirTalk record has the enrollment link, the support number and the plan by state, each with the date we checked it.
  4. Want to look elsewhere first? Compare the programs side by side or see who serves your state. Apply with the new carrier and the National Verifier moves the benefit. Port your number during enrollment and do not cancel the old service first.

Watch for transition scams

Brand changes are when fake messages land best, because people are expecting something unusual. A real migration never asks you to pay a transfer fee, buy a new SIM, confirm your full Social Security number by text, or click a link to stop your benefit being cancelled. AirTalk itself publishes a standing warning about fake sites and fake agents using its name. When in doubt, ignore the message and dial the number on the carrier's own site.

Not as a brand you can sign up with. Every address on newphone.com, including the customer login, redirects to airtalkwireless.com. There is no NewPhone website, no NewPhone plan page and no NewPhone phone number left. The two are part of the same Houston company, so this is a consolidation rather than a shutdown, but nothing reaches NewPhone any more.

What happened to my NewPhone Wireless account?

Your Lifeline benefit is federal and belongs to your household, not to a brand, so a name change does not take it away. The account itself now lives with AirTalk: their login page is where you sign in, and their support line is who answers. If your service has stopped working, that is worth a call rather than a wait.

Can I still apply to NewPhone Wireless?
